Today in Ottawa
Light Snow and -9 C
There are many things to do in Ottawa in the winter. There are about 15 museums to visit, you can go on a tour of parliament for free (be sure to go up the Peace Tower and get a good view of Ottawa), visit the National Art Gallery, skate along the Rideau Canal starting mid-January (the world’s largest skating rink), visit the prime minister’s house (Stephen Harper is his name), go to a movie at the independent Bytowne Cinema (we have memberships that give you a discount), shop in the Byward Market for fresh fruits in the day and return later for some lively nightlife. For a list of Ottawa’s various festivals, visit www.ottawafestivals.ca. Of course, you can just take it easy at the Ottawa Backpackers Inn and surf the Internet (free wireless) or enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea with the staff and fellow travellers. For families or small groups, we also have 2 apartments for rent (visit www.193york.com for more info). We have a Bachelor apartment for $125 per night (can sleep up to 5 people) and we have a 2-bedroom apartment for $200 per night (can sleep up to 8 people).Today’s guests come from Brazil, France, Thailand, Mexico, Hong Kong, Australia, Italy, Turkey, Germany, New Zealand, Pakistan, Japan, China, Spain, Scotland, India, Russia, South Korea, United States, England, New Brunswick, Lebanon, Ireland, Philippines, the Netherlands, and somewhere over the rainbow.
